Why do you think god demands blood sacrifices and burnt offerings? [Spirituality & Religion]

Why does he want the blood splattered on the altar and the fat from around the organs and the large lobe of the liver and kidneys burnt?

Do churches in your neighborhood practice blood sacrifices?

Or, are you attempting [again] to falsely portray God in an unfavorable light?

Is the god of the OT the same god that appears in the NT?
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Pikachu God is always the same.
Jesus, added a new twist in the New Testament.
A real mind bender for non-believers.
Jesus = Man = God
@Budwick
God is always the same.
Very good.

So since god in the OT does indeed demand blood sacrifices and the god of the OT is the same as that in the NT, in what way am i falsely portraying god?
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Pikachu Did he demand such sacrifices in the NT?
@Budwick
Did he demand such sacrifices in the NT?

1) whether or not he demanded blood sacrifice in the NT does not change the fact that he did so in the OT and it is therefore valid to ask why

2) YEAH DUDE! lol JESUS!
@Budwick

thoughts?

Well, He didn't.

Because His Son Jesus became the super sacrifice, for all men. And, animal sacrifices were no longer necessary.

There's a pretty good article you might want to read that discusses animal sacrifice. It's not something to be summed up in a phrase or two. It will take some time and effort to read, and maybe more to understand. Give it a shot - here's a link

@Budwick Exactly.

@JeremyNFla Thanks Jeremy!
Well, He didn't.
He didn't what? Require blood sacrifices in the OT? He did.
He didn't require blood sacrifices in the NT? He did.

It's a fine article but all it does is say that god used blood sacrifice to "cover" the people as he did with adam and eve.

But that's not actually any answer, is it? God doesn't need to do anything. He chooses to do things.

So why does he choose that taking life is what he wants? I don't know. It seems to me that taking life is barbaric. Ann all powerful being couldn't come up with a better way to "cover us?

If you feel i am missing something then name it.

He did not demand such sacrifices in the NT?
But that's not actually any answer, is it
Yes, I think it is.
If you feel i am missing something then name it.
A sincere desire to understand.
@Budwick
He did not demand such sacrifices in the NT?
He certainly did. Jesus was the sacrificial lamb. You know that.
A sincere desire to understand.
lol solid burn bud, but i think you know i am referring to the article.
Anything to say on that count?
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Pikachu Jesus was not an animal.

You asked me to name what I think you are missing.
I said 'A sincere desire to understand.'

Your reference to 'a solid burn' kind of seals that deal.
@Budwick

Don't play stupid, bud. Jesus was a blood sacrifice. Never said he was an animal sacrifice.
The lamb of god, he's called. lol why do i have to educate you on your own religion?
Your reference to 'a solid burn' kind of seals that deal.
Just indulging your need to insult so that i can get you back on track.
So again, did you feel i was missing any relevant point from the article?
Hang on....did you even read it yourself?😏
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Pikachu
Well, Bazinga on me!
Yes, Jesus was the supreme sacrifice.
@Budwick

lol wow.
I've never actually seen you concede a point!
I mean you didn't do it with any grace but you did it!

Good for you, man👍
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Pikachu No, you tricked me into saying something I didn't mean, fair and square!
@Budwick

lol what?

I tricked you into admitting what was in the bible?
Don't spoil this, bud. You didn't get tricked, you were just wrong. It's ok.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Pikachu Enjoy your feeling of victory.
You haven't really won anything.
But, I bet you feel like you did.
@Budwick
But, I bet you feel like you did.
lol honestly, bud? Yeah, a bit.
Nothing of significance, obviously. Kind of like winning a video game.

But the way you accused me of tricking you into being wrong..hee hee hee!😂👏👏👏
Yeah it was fun. Sue me.

So was there anything else? I feel like we've really covered it:

1) You say god had us take life to cover for sin.
2) I ask why he would require us to take life.
3) You (quite rightly) say "i don't know".
4) I agree, there's no evident reason.

Accurate?
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Pikachu
Accurate?
Not even close.

Predictable though.
@Budwick

Hey man, just callin it as i sees it.
Feel free to offer correct that list🙂
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Pikachu
Hey man, just callin it as i sees it.
Me too.
@Budwick

lol that's cool. But can you actually articulate where you think i'm in error or just vaguely disagree as a knee-jerk reaction?
Silverwings · 61-69, F
@Pikachu Show my one place where Jesus demanded a blood sacrifice? You cant because he did not.
