@SW-User Belief is not subject to free will. No one can force themselves to believe or disbelieve in something.

@SW-User I think that's more being unwilling to consider new information, not that they're "afraid to believe." In my case, I've investigated the major world religions thoroughly, and am familiar with all of the arguments for God's existence, and find them unconvincing.
