as the book of john starts , there was the word and the word was with he and he was as the word , so as Jesus is the Almighty's Living Word he was with God from the beginning in spirit but became as flesh later on for a short while and then returned to God so the helper (Holy Spirit) could help mankind , so Jesus was even before Adam and Eve just not in the flesh yet , as far as your Q goes whether before Jesus or after his birth we are treated by the judgements of God in his time and Judgement must be before Hell is assigned so Purgatory or in holding may be evident but hey who really knows except God
