Are religious people really less smart, on average, than atheists? [Spirituality & Religion]

It’s a question with some urgency, the proportion of people with a religious belief is growing: by 2050, if current trends continue, people who say they are not religious will make up only 13 per cent of the global population. Based on the low-IQ-religiosity link, it could be argued that humanity is on course to become collectively less smart. Its said that atheists surpass religious individuals in terms of reasoning but not working-memory performance. The religiosity effect is robust across🤔

It amazes me that supposedly intelligent people believe that a single entity they call "God" came to a reasoning a long time ago and decided to "Create" a Universe full of Billions and Billions of Stars and Planets, then decided only one of those Planets will have Beings created "In His Image"
I am forever shaking my head at this.
Yes,I agree that Mankind is going backwards with "Religion" brainwashing huge numbers of "Lost" Souls

@suchaslife Seeing as I do not believe in "God," and as Science has unsatisfactorily explained the origins of the Earth.
I am more inclined to go with the Scientists than some "Omnipotent Being"
