For those of you who pray, could you please say a prayer for my friend Tom? [Spirituality & Religion]

I can't tell you his last name online. But I can tell you they found a large mass or tumor on one of his lungs, and he is at the VA hospital right now having a biopsy to confirm that it is cancerous. I assume he will be having surgery in a few days.

He is in Boston at the moment, and any prayer you can send out, or even a thought filled with positive energy, would be much appreciated.

Prayer changes things! Pray for God to be seen...that whatever the outcome, that God knows EXACTLY what he's doing. Praying for healing in whatever form that has to take. We neither have to understand nor like what life might bring.....but Gods got this!!

@FORMERLYbatovn Thank you. Sometimes I am one of those "fixer" people. If something is wrong or if I am very worried, I want to rush over and fix it...even if it can't really be fixed.

I do know that God answers all prayers. Sometimes it takes a long time for the answer to come. Sometimes the answer is yes, and sometimes it is no. And I do have faith that God has my friend in the palm of his hand...and God knows this, but my friend does not.

I am trying to comfort him as best I can. He is so afraid of dying. I try to tell him stories I have heard of people who have died and come back. I try to tell him that his good buddy and Uncle, Lenny, will be there to guide him on, and his parents, and all the people he has loved who passed on.

I've even told him what it will look like, after he passes through the light, based on MANY stories I've heard of people who died for a short time and came back, the beautiful meadows, the blue sky, the trees and the flowers. All he wanted to know was if there was trout fishing...😂

@sleepyhead Hardly....we see a short little blip of time (75-80 years) God sees eternity. We want our own way....God says trust me, I know what I'm doing. The issue is not ours to question, because with living by faith, we can trust that the things of this life are in His hands. Just because we don't like or understand His ways, doesnt mean anything. You didn't like or understand everything your parents did., or your own kids agreed with you, a parent sees things differently then the child. God says over and over that we will have these struggles and trials, he NEVER once said that it was easy.....when we step outta line as children or our kids step outta line, there is punishment....there are consequences.....as it is with God. You call God names, but you don't know him. You don't understand that as creator the rules of the game are his to make. Sit down with a bible my friend and read John...read Acts...I guess you won't, but keep in mind if you never speak or get to know a person, there cannot be a relationship, so you will never be able to understand who or what they are. You re left with guesses, rumors, misinformation, and stories. When you KNOW the person is when knowledge and relationship starts. My God supplies ALL my needs.....I am not wealthy, I'm not in perfect health, we struggle, but our hope isn't in anything here...its in Christ...and if I turn out to be wrong...I've not wasted a moment...I have a joy and happiness...a hope that is beyond anything I can obtain from the things this world can give me. I will leave this stream with that. Have a great day.

@FORMERLYbatovn I'm entitled to my beliefs as are you. The difference here is mine get deleted if the main author, undoubtedly a theist, disagrees with me. Whereas as an athiest I'm prepared to listen to everyone's opinions, regardless of whether I agree with them or not, and leave everyone's comments up so the discussuion remains open.
To me personally, what you have written is deeply offensive and rude. It's ignorant and stupid. But that is just my opinion, it's subjective and I'm entitled to it.
