Christians/ex christians: What is your opinion of Comtemporary Christian/Worship Music? [Spirituality & Religion]

I know some of the more fundamentalistic churches preach against it saying it's of the Devil and some embrace it with others mixing classic hymns and modern CCM/ Praise and Worship music. I personally believe it's ones prefrence and some of it is just as good as classic style hymns.

I personally like the old hymns they used to sing, because they had for me anyway, a more personal message and a more meaningful message. They changed things up to draw in more youth. Some songs I like , but others leave my spirit high & dry. I don't like them.

Hymns have no comparison, in my opinion, they are like classical poetry, however to each his own and don't think it should matter.
I like this contemporary take on an old hymn...

@SW-User i do like that version

@SW-User Yes. I can go into a church in any country and know the words.

I love music during services. It can be classical, or modern, and I love all of it. It's all about praising our Father in heaven.

So called Christians who think this is of the devil, or that other thing is demonic, had better look at the squirmy evil worms inside their own heads making them think thoughts like that.

@4meAndyou The Bible proclaims that Satan will stand in the Holy place in the last days, and many will worship a "false Christ" MAtt 24 I love hymns, but I can't find a lot of churches that have hymns. I think we have to know our Bible. The hymns are about God and his Holiness and are often Gods own words from scripture. Spiritual songs are sometimes about God, but mostly how we feel about God. I love spiritual songs, however don't replace the hymns.

@Carazaa The holy place in the bible is the temple in Jerusalem.

I know I am not too discriminating when it comes to whether hymns are played or not, just because I have heard classical violin music without words played in church and the beauty brought tears to my eyes. The only other thing that brings tears to my eyes is the love I feel for God.

@4meAndyou The Holy place is the temple in Jerusalem? I am not at all sure about that, although that is what the churches are saying.

I find the newer more youthful versions incredibly silly. I prefer older, classical type of worship music. It leaves a feeling of veneration and respect towards God in the room it is being played in.
Carazaa · F
@SW-UserI agree. I love hymns but there are some gorgeous songs too. I put some on my posts on SW

I think Satan has creeped in to churches. Hymns was the standard, covering your head and no bare shoulders for women, no hats for men, no socializing. Now its a party! Rock music, bikini tops and mini skirts, baseball hats, and hugging and coffee and donuts, and witchcraft where they read your mind and tell you the future not from the Bible but from their own minds.
Smahala1991 · 31-35, M
@Carazaa ok what's sinful about coffee and doughnuts?
Carazaa · F
@Smahala1991 ha ha nothing, except some come for socializing and not God.
There are some good ones. I like it
People that are scared of it are most likely scared of a lot of stuff.
Carazaa · F
@canusernamebemyusername We should be scared of God though not Satan. But we have to make sure he doesn't creep into the church if we want Gods blessings in the church or he'll burn them all down with us in them!
@Carazaa We had this discussion before. Lol yeah love should be on top🤗

That's right we have to love God and not rebel against him if we want to live.
He says
"I am a consuming fire"

I prefer older and more epic songs. Think "Palästinalied" and "Chevalier, mult estes guariz".
walabby · M
Same as all music. Some great, some OK, some totally cringeworthy! :/

Everyone is different, each has their way of being reached.
Smahala1991 · 31-35, M
@curiosi perfect answer if there ever was one!
purplepen · 51-55, F
I like some of it, but not the stuff with hyped-up drums or shallow, wishy-washy lyrics.
I’m no longer religious and I never cared for traditional gospel music. As a former Catholic I grew up with different music anyway. Still, there are a few popular songs I like in spite of the theist message...

@bijouxbroussard Yeah... Me too. I can overlook the intent if the music is actually good. I never listen to any on purpose, though.. XD
