Be honest: when you read the bible what makes you think it is of divine origin? [Spirituality & Religion]

There was a time in my life where i really wanted to believe and i tried hard to have faith and asked with all my heart that god reveal himself to me. But predictably he did not. And the more i read, the more it became obvious to me that the bible was the work of men.
So base and petty and violent. This was not the work of an enlightened being.

So what makes you feel that the bible is of divine origin?

Because it has all come true. Only God knows the future!

@Carazaa That's a lie. Where are the four horsemen of the apocalypse? Biblical prophecies are couched in metaphor and so vague that real events can be made to fit. Failing that, they're said to be "yet to be fulfilled". I've predicted another poster here will win the UK lottery. If that ever happens it will prove my divinity. Until then, it's "yet to be fulfilled".

If your god knows the future, it would have known Eve was going to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. She therefore had no choice in the matter.

God said 5000 years ago in the Bible that "Syria's people will flee their homes, and Damascus will be ha heap of ruins, and the Jewish people will be dispersed all over the world and in the last days they will have their own land, and earthquakes pestilences will in crease in frequency and intensity, and there will be an increase in knowledge in the last days, and Jesus said there will be people going back and forth in the world in the last days. God knew this. When my grandpa was born there were horses, no cars and no TV. Now we have airplanes and computers. Jesus said that when you see these things that is the last generation Matt 24

@Carazaa Jesus told his followers that some of them who were standing there would still be alive when he returned Matthew 16:27,28
It has been two thousand years...

@Carazaa You can interpret it any way you want to "prove" anything when, in fact, it proves nothing except the gullibility of some people.

Changed lives, and changed families is the biggest proof@CookieLuvsBunny
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@Carazaa If that's the best "proof" you have, you haven't proven anything. Members of other religions say the same of their beliefs. Other people's lives change as a result of sheer luck.
Carazaa · F
Yes a born again true Christians life will drastically change ones the holy spirit changes the heart. Only God can do that.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@Carazaa Interesting. My life changed very much for the better when I broke free of christianity. A couple I know said their lives improved very much for the better when they started practicing Wicca - one could say only The Great Mother can do that. It really comes down to what one believes.
Carazaa · F
Wicca is Satan in descise of truth deceiving you. He will kill you eventually! Please don't follow a cult.
CookieLuvsBunny · 31-35, F
@Carazaa You have stated Wicca is Satan, Islam is Satan and Catholicism is Satan. You give Satan a lot of credit
Carazaa · F
He is deceiving the WHOLE world. He comes as an angel of light, tickling peoples ears and destroying their lives to get people away from God. He is angry with God because he himself wants to be worshipped.
CookieLuvsBunny · 31-35, F
@Carazaa Why did god create it?
Carazaa · F
Wicca can float your boat for a minute but then who will pay for all your sins? Yourself? Or Jesus? There is no other God but Jesus! I care about you and Wiccah is not going to help you when you are in trouble, only God!
CookieLuvsBunny · 31-35, F
@Carazaa I don't believe in Wicca either
Carazaa · F
To show his love for humanity!@CookieLuvsBunny
Carazaa · F
I am happy that you aren't Wiccah! phewwwww...@CookieLuvsBunny
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@Carazaa Your Jesus or god never did anything for me. That's partly why I ceased believing in them.
Carazaa · F
I understand. Many aren't born again, have never repented, or believed and then pray when they are wanting something. We don't have a puppet God who can be manipulated. If you repent and believe he died for you, then you will be amazed. But its not always easy in life. We do have persecutions as Christians but God will hear your prayers, he says "Don't be afraid, I will help you"@suzie1960
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@Carazaa I was a real, born again, christian. I repented and fully believed but, finally, I realised I was just being deceived, even worse I was fooling myself. As I said, my life took a turn very much for the better when I broke free from the shackles of christianity.
Carazaa · F
I don't believe you put God first, tithed your money, and followed him 100%. Jesus said that in the last days people will fall away from the faith, so it makes sense that you are falling away. Just be prepared that he is coming back any day. All the signs are there. He WILL come in our generation to judge the living and the dead. @suzie1960
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@Carazaa When I was a christian my whole life was devoted to "god". We didn't have tithes and I didn't really have any money anyway.
Carazaa · F
God wants us to give at least 10% to missions or some Church, then he will bless us. Its super important if you want blessings and answered prayers. God wants to see our faith. "If you give me your first, I will pour down a blessing so big that your barns will overflow" I know this from personal experience. I gave even though I could't pay my rent when I was young and a week later I had a woman give me all her inheritance from a man because she already was a millionaire. She was just knocking on my door one day and said you were so nice to me a couple of days ago that I want to give you this check. (It was over $20,000) I can tell you many, many times when God has miraculously helped me.

It's a scam. I'd like to say I'm surprised anyone falls for it but I remember what it was like when I was a christian. :(
Carazaa · F
It was a scam that a lady gave me $20,000? ha, ha no I don't think that was a scam.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@Carazaa I don't believe it happened.
