Why are creationists perfectly happy to accept it when a DNA test shows that they're part irish or native or that they're related to someone famous... [Spirituality & Religion]

...but when DNA shows that we shared a common ancestor with other apes suddenly it's all just conjecture?

Come on, fundies. Pick a lane.

Results that fit their prejudices (e.g. those showing human ancestry) are "real science" and "the truth". Results that challenge their prejudices and cast doubt on their magical man-in-the-sky are just made up. :)

What magical man would that be?
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@GodSpeed63 Come on, don't play dumb. It's the thing you keep babbling on about - the one you call "god jehovah/yahweh" of course, but you already knew that.

@suzie1960
Come on, don't play dumb.
If you want to talk to somebody about playing dumb, try yourself first. I don't believe in a magical man in the sky. If you want to believe in him along with your monster, that's up to you. My God, that I have a personal relationship with, is the one true God who lives forever. It's up to you to decide to drop your monster and your magical man in the sky and come, have a close relationship with the one true God, Yahweh. His arms are wide open, ready to receive you.

Your imaginary friend - that magical man-in-the-sky. Lots of children have them but usually grow out of them by the age of 5 or 6.

@suzie1960
Your imaginary friend - that magical man-in-the-sky.
What about your imaginary magical man in the sky? And you say I'm delusional. Get your head out of clouds, kid. My God lives outside of time and space.

@GodSpeed63
My God lives outside of time and space
so cannot have any effect whatsoever on this universe, and is therefore irrelevant in this universe

(incidentally, it's spacetime)

So now that God has been invalidated we can now continue living our lives.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@PikachuTrainer
So now that God has been invalidated we can now continue living our lives.
What makes you say that? He's still here.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@GodSpeed63 You said that your god 'lives outside of space and time'.

(I assume you were trying to refer to spacetime).

if that's the case, then it can't have any effect whatsoever on this universe, and the postulation of its existence can be ignored. Fortunately that changes nothing for us, because the postulation explained nothing in the first place
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@newjaninev2
(I assume you were trying to refer to spacetime
Nope, you got it right the first time. God lives out of space and time for He is eternal and has no beginning or end.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@newjaninev2 You have watched Dr Who? The Doctor is always rabbiting on about space and time. Perhaps GodSpeed is a fan, too. Shame, because I love Dr Who.
PikachuTrainer · 26-30, M
@GodSpeed63 it still invalidates his existence since nothing can exist outside of space and time. And saying he had no beginning or end is a logical fallacy, as this God of yours would still need a beginning.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger
You have watched Dr Who? The Doctor is always rabbiting on about space and time. Perhaps GodSpeed is a fan, too. Shame, because I love Dr Who.
What does Dr. Who have to do with God living outside time and space?
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@GodSpeed63 Oh well, another point missed.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger
Oh well, another point missed.
You got that right. Only, it was you that missed it.
PikachuTrainer · 26-30, M
@GodSpeed63 no I think you missed it, but unlike the Doctor you don't know what space and time is in the context you are using it in.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@GodSpeed63 If your god is outside of spacetime then it cannot influence anything in this universe... and is therefore irrelevant.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@PikachuTrainer
no I think you missed it
Not a chance.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@newjaninev2
If your god is outside of space and time then it cannot influence anything in this universe... and is therefore irrelevant.
With God, all things are possible. That is relevant.
PikachuTrainer · 26-30, M
@GodSpeed63 nope, the chance is quite big, practically certain.
With God, all things are possible. That is relevant.
And I see you are still stuck with the logical fallacies.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@PikachuTrainer
And I see you are still stuck with the logical fallacies.
Leave science to the true scientists will you?
PikachuTrainer · 26-30, M
@GodSpeed63 take your own advice.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@GodSpeed63
With God, all things are possible
That's the complete extent of your 'true science', is it?
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@newjaninev2
That's the complete extent of your 'true science', is it?
I told you, you need to leave science to true scientists. Okay?
PikachuTrainer · 26-30, M
@GodSpeed63 Like I said above, take your own advice, you are lacking in any scientific knowledge.
