Which particular God are you talking about?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PhlipipUK Jehovah
PhlipipUK · 70-79, MVIP
@MarkPaul Who?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PhlipipUK You know... God.
PhlipipUK · 70-79, MVIP
@MarkPaul Which brings me back to my previous question, Which particular God are you talking about?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PhlipipUK The true one God. The one whose words are in the Bible.
ChimerIX · 26-30, M
@PhlipipUK He's talking about the God of Abraham, the Judeo-Christian Lord, the one most commonly discussed in western culture.
PhlipipUK · 70-79, MVIP
@MarkPaul Oh, you mean that book that was written by loads of different people and which nobody can actually prove that it really represents the words of any particular God or,in fact, anyone.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PhlipipUK All under the inspiration of the single God.
PhlipipUK · 70-79, MVIP
@ChimerIX Oh, the one that's a bit like Voldamort in Harry Potter? Sorry if I spelt it incorrectly.
PhlipipUK · 70-79, MVIP
@MarkPaul How do you know that then?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PhlipipUK As it is written... as has been proven... as faith has validated.
PhlipipUK · 70-79, MVIP
@MarkPaul Show me some proof then.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PhlipipUK Show me you are open-minded to accept it.
PhlipipUK · 70-79, MVIP
@MarkPaul I will accept it when someone shows me some proof.
ChimerIX · 26-30, M
@PhlipipUK Ah, I see what you did there. The inutterable name of God as they say lol. If that's what you take away from it, then sure, man. Why'd you ask if you seem to know more about it than the average layman?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PhlipipUK Show me proof of your intention to do so.
PhlipipUK · 70-79, MVIP
@ChimerIX I'm simply asking that someone gives me some evidence that this God thing actually exists but nobody seems to be able to do that.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PhlipipUK I call BS on your sincerity.
PhlipipUK · 70-79, MVIP
@MarkPaul You can do whatever you want, but I guarantee you cannot give me any proof that your so-called God actually exists.
ChimerIX · 26-30, M
@PhlipipUK Hm, here is my thought on that. I'm not going to preach to you and tell you if you simply pray, all will be revealed to you, my child. Nah, it's a bit more difficult than that. Unfortunately, this isn't quantifiable. I believe because of my own personal experiences, not because a book tells me it is in the best interest of my soul. If I could show you, then that would be great, wouldn't it? But someone would already have beaten me to that punch if it were possible for us to give you evidence.

God is considered to be a preternatural or supernatural being, reliant on faith and faith alone. It does not mean you cannot believe in God and science both, but as things stand it's impossible to prove these things with scientific investigation. It would be nice if there were an easy way to do that.

If you sincerely want to believe or see the mysteries of faith for yourself, then you will. But if it's to prove something, then none of us can help you, man. I'm sure you know all of that without me telling you so. If you don't need to believe in a God, then that's fine to
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PhlipipUK And, I am now prepared to guarantee, there is no proof on (or off) the planet that you would accept. There are people who insist there is no proof the earth is round. And, at the same time there is no way they will accept any proof to their self-mandated thinking.
PhlipipUK · 70-79, MVIP
@ChimerIX It would be nice if someone who says they believe in God could actually tell me why they believe in God.
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
If something requires faith, that pretty much shows that it cannot be proven.

When you use faith and proof in the same sentence, that demonstrates a lack of understanding of the meaning of words.

@MarkPaul
PhlipipUK · 70-79, MVIP
@JoeyFoxx Well, I haven't used the word faith until now so I don't really understand your comment.
ChimerIX · 26-30, M
@PhlipipUK I believe because I've walked away from situations that I shouldn't have by praying. Because I feel His presence in my life in the best and worst of times. It's still not something I could prove to you with empirical data which is what you originally asked. That's because again, it's a personal experience and like anything else, I could simply be lying to you or you could write it off as mere delusions. It's faith. Wouldn't it be enough to just say 'Because I want to?' Sometimes that's all there is to it.
