Why doesn't god want me to believe in him? [Spirituality & Religion]

There was a time in my life when i earnestly, desperately asked god to reveal himself to me.
If god is real then he would know how to make me believe. But evidently he hasn't done that.
So either he doesn't exist or he doesn't want me to believe, right?

He has revealed Himself to everyone, as stated in Romans 1:18-20 "The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

@ms20182878 Didn't understand one bit of that . If it means god punishes wickedness then it's not true.
@ms20182878

So it says in an old book the veracity of which is unconvincing to me.
So that that brings us back to my original question.

@Pikachu He clearly says that He wants us to come to Him by faith. You have been asking Him to interact with you differently than He tells us He will interact with us... and then you become frustrated when He doesn't change to meet your requests. We always need to remember that He is God... and we are not.

@ms20182878 Where does he say these things? Does god speak to you?
@ms20182878

Not sure i buy it considering how often he directly demonstrates his presence in the bible.
So why not spark my faith?
ms20182878 · 61-69, M
@kodiac I bolded the important part of the verses... that God has made Himself visible to us through His creation... so that we are without excuse. In other words, we cannot say that we have not seen His eternal power and divine nature.
kodiac · 22-25, M
@ms20182878 But every sentence starts with he says ,to who ?Is god talking to some but not others?
ms20182878 · 61-69, M
@kodiac Romans 3:21-31, Romans 5:1-2, 2 Corinthians 5:7, Galatians 2:15-20, Ephesians 2:1-10 and many other passages clearly state that we must come by faith. And, yes, the "still small voice" of the Holy Spirit speaks to me.
ms20182878 · 61-69, M
@Pikachu Why not spark your faith? Well... He says that we each have enough faith to believe already... We only need the faith of a mustard seed.
kodiac · 22-25, M
@ms20182878 I believe the common man is like me ,none of your post is something i can understand .What if lost tribe of people were never indoctrinated by religion,never heard of the bible ?Are they doomed by ignorance of your doctrine? Will they burn in hell ?
ms20182878 · 61-69, M
@kodiac He is speaking to all who will hear. The Bible is written for everyone. God desires that everyone would read it, accept the free gift of salvation and eternal life offered to us through the sacrificial death of Jesus, and follow Jesus with our life.
kodiac · 22-25, M
@ms20182878 Respectfully That doesn't answer my question .
ms20182878 · 61-69, M
@kodiac I'm sorry... I thought that you had asked the question "Is god talking to some but not others?"
kodiac · 22-25, M
@ms20182878 The question about a person that has never been exposed to religion or the bible ,are they doomed to go to hell?
ms20182878 · 61-69, M
@kodiac I don't presume to understand everything about how God interacts with His creation. I just know what the text of the Bible says... "For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse." This says that everyone should be able to look around at the creation and know that there is a Creator... because they can see evidence of "his eternal power and divine nature". When you visit a "lost tribe of people", there seems to always be an aspect to their life of worshipping something... often something that they see in the creation... sun, moon, stars, animals, plants, and so forth. So they recognize that there is a god in some form, even though they may not understand who He is. I personally believe that God has a plan to deal with their situation, even though I don't exactly know what His plan might be.

@ms20182878 Thanks ,that i understood ! Thanks for debating this without getting upset by my questions .That's the biggest block to people who just have questions ,it always ends up in a fight .
ms20182878 · 61-69, M
@kodiac You're very welcome. I never want a fight... I'm always seeking a calm dialog and a better understanding of others.
@ms20182878

I don't have even the faith the size of a mustard seed now. But i did when i sought him. Evidently that was not enough. Ad obviously god already knew that.
Do you disagree?
@Pikachu I was the same way. When I started seeking I was suppressed at how much faith I did have. But it was slowly worn down to nothing as I tried harder and harder to find him. It lead me into anger issues that only I and not him was able to calm. So all in all. What once brought me comfort turned me bad and I could only fix myself by getting away from Christianity.
ms20182878 · 61-69, M
@Pikachu I personally don't believe that some are chosen and some are not. I believe that everyone has the free will to choose to believe. Don't get me wrong... There have been many times when I have asked God for/about things... and He has been quite silent in my life. But there have also been times when He has been incredibly close and real and personal. In my personal experience, He has never made Himself known to me when I was placing demands on Him... He instead made Himself most clearly known to me when I was most broken and humble before Him. But that's just me... maybe He's different with other people.
@canusernamebemyusername

I was never raised christian, but i did turn to god at one time. Either he doesn't exist or he didn't want me.
Sucks to suck i guess lol
ms20182878 · 61-69, M
@Pikachu Well, My Friend... I can assure you that He DOES exist... and He DOES want you. Can I ask how you "did turn to god at one time"? What did you do?
@ms20182878

You can assure me all you want but unfortunately that carries no weight to me. Many people believe as you do.
I remain unconvinced.

I read his word, i prayed to him, i begged him to help me, i promised myself to him....nothing.

Tried it later with the devil too lol. Nothing there either.
@Pikachulol I did the same thing.
ms20182878 · 61-69, M
@Pikachu Do you believe that there is a Creator?
