Christians: do you believe that the WHOLE bible is the inspired word of god? [Spirituality & Religion]

If so, how do you reconcile the many immoral things in the bible like the owning of slaves, the inequality of women and the murder of homosexuals?

Now, this is a bit of a gotcha question but i am still genuinely interested in how the faithful reconcile these immoral things with the idea that god is unfailingly moral and just or that the bible is the ultimate source for morality.

You mention all the bad things but fail to ack the good things. Oh well why am I not surprised.
@MarmeeMarch

What does it matter if there are a bunch of good things if there are also a bunch of bad things?
If you take the bible as a guide to morality on the basis that it is the inspired word of god then it takes only ONE obviously immoral thing to throw that hypothesis into question.

Do you understand?

It doesn't matter even if there are more good things than bad things.
If the inspired word of god is condoning even ONE immoral thing, then why should we consider it to be the ultimate source of morality?
@Pikachu Uh ......Cause not all of it was inspired by God - most of it is documentation of what happened esp in the New Test. Also it was written by many and has been a guide for morality for thousands and thousands and thousands of years. About the same amount of time that people were doing things that conflict with the words.
You are trying to be a Biblical Absolutist - it is not a piece of technical writing. God ..... Gimme a break.
@MarmeeMarch

Well i would absolutely agree that it's not the inspired word of god.

But don't criticize me for a position that is not my own because there ARE many christians who hold the bible as the ultimate guide to morality.
That is a real, extant theological position.
I am challenging that position.
@Pikachu I am saying that it is NOT ALL inspired by God. And as for your other half of the reply - have you ever heard of HYPOCRISY ? - The KKK uses the words of the Bible, to their advantage , but only read what they want to read.

@MarmeeMarch some Christians take the entire bible as the word of God.
@MarmeeMarch

I am saying that it is NOT ALL inspired by God

Well good for you. I whole-heatedly agree lol
But then this question is no for you, yes? I did make very clear who this question was aimed at in my original post.

And yes, i think hypocrisy is exactly the answer to how these sorts of christians hold up the bible as the ultimate source of morality when it clearly demonstrates many moral failings.
@PikachuTrainer So ? Let them - you want to throw the Bible on a whole stack of books to burn so people dont have access to them ?
PikachuTrainer · 31-35, M
@MarmeeMarch if that stack is primarily built up of the holy books of the world then yes, religion is a cancer that has been eating at the heart of humanity for far too long.
@PikachuTrainer Oh you mean Christianity - judaism, Taoism, Hinduism and islam are OK -- alright I just want to know your stance. Just say it.
PikachuTrainer · 31-35, M
@MarmeeMarch I suggest rereading my comment, I said all holy books, that includes Judaism, Taoism, Hinduism and Islam.
@PikachuTrainer No - come on now - I know what you mean ----- -be honest -------its OK I wont hold it against you.
PikachuTrainer · 31-35, M
@MarmeeMarch I never hold back what I say, like I said you should reread my comment.
