I wish I wasn't an atheist. I deeply envy people who have faith in an afterlife. [Spirituality & Religion]

It causes me a great deal of anxiety and stress when I begin to think about what happens to people I love when they die, and what will eventually happen to me too. I wish so badly I could feel safe and confident that, even though death is hard, my loved ones will be just fine, and so will I, and we'll eventually be together again, happy and secure.

What an odd thing to say. It's a choice, you get to choose whether you believe in a higher power or not. I'm more like a hypocrite atheist, I don't believe in god until the plane starts falling or my exams failing.

@DrSunnyTheSkeptic It's a choice of mine I keep myself agnostic. I consider myself doing so delusional. I only do as I know people take real meaning in religion and out of respect to that faith of theirs I want to take a meaning in their belief.

To me it's not odd. It's just a person going through life

@SW-User You said the other reason it freaks you out is that nothing happens after death, well believing something doesn't change that unfortunately. It's comforting to thing there's a heaven for the good and hell for the wicked but the unfortunate reality is that we become nothing but fertilizer.
