I wish I wasn't an atheist. I deeply envy people who have faith in an afterlife. [Spirituality & Religion]

It causes me a great deal of anxiety and stress when I begin to think about what happens to people I love when they die, and what will eventually happen to me too. I wish so badly I could feel safe and confident that, even though death is hard, my loved ones will be just fine, and so will I, and we'll eventually be together again, happy and secure.

Use the fact that you don't believe in an afterlife as an excuse to live this life to the damn fullest you possibly can. Spend that time you want to spend with your family in the afterlife right here, right now. Make an impact, make sure you make a positive impact, because your spirit lives on in the hearts of the living who remember you fondly. That's how you'll live after you die, my friend.

@lamps That's one of my core beliefs.

@BlueMetalChick Same here. I don't believe in an afterlife, but I think it just makes this life more precious, it gives you a level appreciation for this life that someone who does believe in an afterlife wouldn't really have. One day I'll be a corpse rotting away somewhere, but we are more than our physical body, we're locked into someone's memory for as long as they live too.
