Religion will never die out, will it? [Spirituality & Religion]

At the last count there are 4200 Religious denominations. Surely the number will only ever grow?
Atheism is growing but Religion is also growing.

That isn't growing. That is splitting.

@canusernamebemyusername The number of people seeking out Religious Experience is growing. Sure, there are many denominations. Many people are still looking for more than what is available on the natural Earth.
SW-User
@canusernamebemyusername And fragmentation of religion only means less coherence for believers, more division between people.

The number of languages is shrinking, but the number of religions is growing. What will that mean for the future?
Peaceful · F
I hope it does.
Buddha wasn't Buddhist
Mohammed wasn't Muslim
Jesus wasn't Christian. Facts, bro. 🙏
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@Peaceful OK, so I'm the first to say it. By this time next year I reckon another 4658 people will have said it.
InvaderNice · 26-30, M
@NankerPhelge Let’s start now!!! I can’t believe I just read that. That makes 2. :)
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@InvaderNice Can't believe you just read what?

Humans want to believe in something bigger than themselves. I don’t think that instinct will ever go away. Human nature doesn’t fundamentally change. Therefore there will always be something like religion, though it may undergo very different forms in the future.

@SW-User we have a desire to know where we came from that desire is because deep down we know we didn’t pop up outa nowhere. A world this beautiful has a creator
Gusman · 61-69, M
@SW-User Some humans seem to want more than what their lives offer.
Grasping for more of what? I do not know. I see Religion drawing those people in with promises of something better than they have at the moment. Just my opinion.
It's profitable and it plays on instinctual fear so, no.
Gusman · 61-69, M
@RandomForest Not everyone can be hijacked, thankfully. Even when I was very young, I looked at religion and said no thanks.
@Gusman Everyone can. It's education that allows us to combat it.
Gusman · 61-69, M
@RandomForest Luckily then I was educated enough to see it for what it is.🙂

People need the support they get from their faith. So, it is not likely for all religions to die. People may start switching to one that is flexible and accepts the changes according to the time and circumstances. More rigid and stricter ones are likely to die.
SW-User
Maybe strict, oppressive religion but a belief in a creator will probably forever exist.
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
I doubt it.
InvaderNice · 26-30, M
If you want religion to die out, the population of religious people should matter to you more than the number of religions.
InvaderNice · 26-30, M
@Gusman Did you think I said Christmas? I meant Christians.
Gusman · 61-69, M
@InvaderNice Mea Culpa. Christians try to live the perfect life, but are unable to because for a large number of them that way of life might seem quite boring?
InvaderNice · 26-30, M
@Gusman Lol I’m not concerned about how perfect they are. They just have a good track record of creating good societies.
Like2play · M
I hope is doesn’t, religion in the root of most of the worlds evils.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
I don't care as long as it becomes more tolerant of each other. If not then I hope it dies out because I don't want another Inquisition in my time. Tired of every religion arguing about whose right or wrong.

@SW-User Agreed. I am being non judgemental here. People will do and believe what they will.
