Do you hear what God is saying to you? [Spirituality & Religion]

I pray to God everyday...multiple times. However I don't think I can hear what he's saying to me. How do you know?

You have to spend time in His Word. That is how He communicates with those that believe.

It's not always easy to understand the scriptures.

I am spending time in his word with help from my pastor....I don't understand what is being said sometimes.

Is there a certain scripture that seems to surface most often?
Gigi1425 · 51-55, F
Not yet....I have only been reading the bible for a few months. My pastor told me to start with John and just keep reading each book that comes after that. So now I am up to Romans which I had to start over to understand what I was reading. I also attend a next class at church which I love.

better to enjoy things of real life instead of stupidities from yur pastor _

Understanding takes time. Keep going to classes and talk with other believers.

@JazzyC: You are right. It isn't always easy. It takes time.

sure dear sure ... if yu hve a minimum "brain" can yu really believe in what yu are arguing ?
SweetMae · 70-79, F
@Princessnadia: You don't have to insult me to disagree. You do not know anything about the level of my intelligence.
Princessnadia · 56-60, F
@SweetMae: maybe not
but it is not very intelligent as yu say to take fairy tales for true ... just like the islamists why not ... they "believe" in their crimes for the benefit of the community no ?
same for the crusaders in th 14/15 centuries or even the romans long time ago (ixtus)

I am intelligent enough to know you are not looking for anything more than confirmation of your own beliefs and that to have a discussion with you would be pointless. Enjoy the rest of your evening.

@SweetMae: typical answer from "believers" .... hve yu ever had a proof of yur believes are the truth ?
in french we are calling thar "dogmes" ... revealed truth .... no one can detect the stupidity because no brain people ... they just do not hink and make their own opinion ... they just believe (???) because their parents do and their grand parents did etc .... baptists, pastors, christians and bla bla bla ...
@Gigi1425: sometimes it helps to try different translations. Some are easier to understand than others. I like the NIV version. It also helps me to have a concordance close by when I'm studying scripture...for me, it isn't like reading a regular book. There's so much to absorb...but in learning it's worth it.

@Pinkstarburst: That is very good advice. I keep a prayer journal and date the entries.

@Gigi1425 understanding is more than just understanding the words, God will speak when you are ready to hear
