No actually quite the opposite. If people believe in science then they have no need for god.
SW-User
@BlueMetalChick I beg to differ
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SW-User Then differ. I'm listening.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick Wrong again. God is the Author of science and uses it to show us His creation and how He's made it all work.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@GodSpeed63 And you know this because...what, god told you so? Did he send you a text message saying he authored science? Did he post about it on Facebook?
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick
And you know this because
You've been reading my posts all along and you still don't know the one true God I'm talking about? Please, don't play dumb with me, it's not a good idea. I know you're not dumb, so don't play dumb, okay?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@GodSpeed63 I didn't play dumb. I asked you how you know that. I've asked you before and your answer is always " because I know." I'm looking for a real answer.

You might wanna learn what playing dumb means.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick
I've asked you before and your answer is always " because I know." I'm looking for a real answer.
Those are your words. God's Holy Spirit has always been my answer.
SheikYerbouti · 51-55, M
@BlueMetalChick Kepler, Galileo, Einstein, Faraday. All men of science who also believed in God.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@GodSpeed63 Yeah, and that's shorthand for "cos I don't have an answer so it's cos I said so." You don't know shit because of any spirits. You don't talk to any otherworldly entities on your free time. That's not an answer.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SheikYerbouti And? Did any of them attribute their scientific discoveries to god? Did they say god talked to them and told them about science?

That's what I thought.
SheikYerbouti · 51-55, M
@BlueMetalChick Well, you stated that those who believe in science can't believe in God. So, you're wrong on that point. Second, they considered their work, discoveries proof the God exists. So, you thought wrong.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SheikYerbouti No I didn't. I said those who believe in science don't need to believe in God, not that they can't. Maybe try not making shit up about what I said.

None of those people you named wrote that they attribute their scientific discoveries to god. That's something you just made up now.
SheikYerbouti · 51-55, M
@BlueMetalChick Not making up anything there sweetie. Maybe if you tried to educate yourself on what they believed you just might learn something.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SheikYerbouti Well you just lied about what I said so yeah, that's making shit up. Maybe if you read people's comments instead of going into the conversation with the intent of "educating" people and acting like a superior asswipe, you'd learn something.
SheikYerbouti · 51-55, M
@BlueMetalChick Aww, cupcake...No, I really didn't. You keep deflecting. Maybe if you deflate that oversized ego and try to have a civil conversation.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SheikYerbouti Yes you did. You lied about what I said. And then you lied again about famous scientists who believed in god. Now you're deflecting so you don't have to answer for that.

I don't engage in civil conversation with a fucking liar. You want a civil conversation? Then don't make shit up. You'll get no civility or respect from me because I give no respect to a dishonest sophist.

@BlueMetalChick where I differ is that science justifies a lack of need for God. Simple as that. I get that we can always study the how, but when theories for WHY come into play, a Creator is a feasible, valid, and logical answer out of many potential answers. Science is ever changing and we can't conclude that our knowledge today is a justification for whether or not the existence of the universe needs a Creator. Honestly speaking, if it did, what would your response be? .-.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SW-User I see where you're going with this, but the problem I see is that even though it IS possible that the universe has a creator, we don't seem to have any way of confirming or invalidating it. How can we gain knowledge about the creator is there is one? The creator doesn't seem to interact with the world in any way. We can't use our five senses, we can't observe the creator or anything that the creator influences. We can't use mathematics or logic. And we don't know of any forces that the creator reacts to, or causes reactions with. So maybe there's a creator, but how are we supposed to know anything about it, or whether it is real?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SheikYerbouti Hey liar, I'm still waiting for a reply. If you ever grow the balls to respond, I'll be right here waiting.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
Interestingly, some people here have argued that their brand of Christianity is the only correct one. There is even some disagreement with established Churches and claims made that those Churches aren't really Christian. Given that most of the scientists mentioned above belonged to established Churches and, as a result, are not true Christians. Also, consider the writings of Einstein on religion, they don't really speak to a personal God and he presents as a Pantheist.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Bushranger Einstein was a Jew. He didn't believe in Jesus, so he would be considered a heretic by the other men mentioned.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@BlueMetalChick Yep, he also wrote that he believed in the God of Spinoza, making him even a bit of an outcast in the Jewish religion as well.

Kepler, while a devout believer, questioned the prevailing wisdom. Admittedly, he stated that he did so in order to celebrate God (very big, general and probably incorrect paraphrase), but questioned it none the less.

I've noticed that there seems to be a lack of curiosity among some people on here. They seem to think that all the answers are already in the Bible and that the physical sciences all suffer from the corruption of original sin or are influenced by evolution.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Bushranger The user HippyJoe comes to mind on your last statement. On discussions of religion, he refers to science as "the cult of scientism" and insists that anyone who believes in science is arrogant and lacks a sense of curiosity, and doesn't know how to find answers of the world for themselves. I think that's possibly the clearest example of psychological projection in human history. Because the entire basis of religion is to believe what someone else tells you and never question it, never seek the truth for yourself, just let someone else feed it to you.
SheikYerbouti · 51-55, M
@BlueMetalChick You stated that "if people believe in science then they have no need for god". So once again, I'm not lying on that part. Please remember what you say. So, I originally chimed in to say that there are men of science who not only believe in God, but that their work proved that there is a Creator. Like so many atheists, you can't be challenged on anything because you apparently know everything. Your ego won't let you admit that you may be wrong. So, I gave you just a few examples, which you still won't accept because it tears your argument down, and you will still have a hangup on insisting that I'm a "liar", when I just proved yet again that I not. You're not very good at this, sophistry indeed!
SheikYerbouti · 51-55, M
@BlueMetalChick Unlike you apparently, I have a life outside of being on the computer.
