Sadly, there are always those who choose to mock. [Spirituality & Religion]

I’m sure I’m no different from others here, that have been mocked for their different ways, life styles, or beliefs, so this post is not about my complaining or feeling sorry for myself. There’s something more important that needs to be said and seen here, about our failure to progress.

I've been mocked for my Christian faith, many times over the years. I've been called narrow-minded, fanatical, judgmental, Puritanical, Medieval, a lunatic, delusional, brainless, stupid, and several choice words I can't list here.

Such antics only prove that we have yet to learn how to love, live, and let live. Such insecurities are rooted in sad, lonely, and/or loveless lives. Having yet to resolve issues in their own lives, they find comfort in finding fault in others. At best, it only takes their mind off themselves for a while. Thus, this behavior continues.

This type foolery just reinforces my belief that we’re still no closer to where we should be, when it comes to what Jesus taught about learning how to love one another.

Love one another, and do no harm. It seems like such a simple request, doesn’t it? Yet, throughout history, we see we’ve come no further along in learning the lesson. Such, proves our sinful nature, and WHY we need Jesus to transform and cleanse our hearts.

Not one of us is any better than the other. In the end, we’re all leaving this world, in only our birthday suits. That puts things in perspective, doesn’t it? We are not to hate people who have said cruel things to us. We must keep in mind, that they have a soul, just as we all do, and theirs needs praying for, just as much as anyone else’s.

Whatever went wrong, for them to end up hateful or cruel, we may never know, but before we get pious about it, we must remember that neither are we perfect, nor without sin. Recall what Jesus said to the crowd who wanted to stone the adulteress...”You, who are without sin, cast the first stone!” None could do it.

This is why Jesus said to pray for our enemies. Not because they deserve it, but because He wants to set our hearts free from hate, which can affect our health in the long run. He also wants us to see our enemies through HIS eyes...as human beings with souls that need saving... just as much as ours did, before we were saved.

I pray these people who make fun of, or criticize others, will discover the same mercy I found in Christ—and I pray they find it before they face Him, when this life is over.

Jesus said, “Love one another.” There was no “if” in that sentence.
