Politics would be closer to a religion. It has a hierarchy. A leader. Faith that the leader will keep his or her promises. The belief that they can magically do stuff they are not actually allowed to do. The adoration and blind faith or the constituents. Etc...

@Pikachu I can see many in ancient times as hero worship gone to the extreme. Real people put on a pedestal so high they can no long be reached.
