Do you think that religion could be part of human evolution? [Spirituality & Religion]

NigelDoes · 56-60, M
De-evolution maybe.
LemonSqueezer · 51-55, F
You took my answer. 😉
NigelDoes · 56-60, M
Sorry Andie, I like to steal shit.
Picklebobble · 56-60, M
No.
Religion is a form of political control.
"Believe this or you'll go to Hell forever!"
So of course, some people do!
I've no idea if there's a/many God(s).
If there is, I'd like a word with him/her about the stuff that gets done in their name ! Wars, bigotry, massacres, be headings, floggings, hangings etc
I mean what kind of creator would allow folk to do that ?
actually there is a part of the brain which is responsible for religious and spiritual experiences. you can even stimulate it via radiation and people have hallucinations like a burning bush talk to them.

and for ancient people religion makes sense.. it gives people a moral codex that cant make one up forthemself and it creates unitiy in a way that its our god vs their god.

of course this is all nonsense in modern times but there are still enough people who believe in gods and ghosts and even unicorns

Do you doubt that Hitler was an hallucination or Isis isn't real or that the holocaust didn't happen.

How far does your delusion take you?
KingofPizza2 · 36-40, M
Yes, in that people tend to be hard-wired to oppose some kind of "other" group. Religious extremism at least takes a lot of its cues from that impulse.

Wut? Religion is a man made idea while evolution is improvement through mutation.
CreateTVT · 31-35, M
I know that. But do you think one day in the far future all religion will be gone and only in museums?
SW-User
Hopefully.

lack of religion maybe
SW-User
Uh no. Definitely not.

Kind of, i mean the biggest aim of evolution is for living beings to survive, so people found in religion a way not ever die.
Justpeaceandlove · 61-69, F
That depends on the interpretation of never dying. It's not about the body.
SW-User
Yes true, but when it comes to survival people just care about surving no matter how
Justpeaceandlove · 61-69, F
I suppose there are those that want to continue in their bodies.

Not the evolution of our bodies but our society as a whole

if let's say a soul is enlightened, and then he has 30-40 students whom he enlightens too.. and then each country's president consults 1-2 of those enlightened beings for setting policies and financials... maybe then yes.

The very idea behind this question offends me.

Religion is to man(flesh) as evolution is to the conscious(mind)... I couldn't come up with anything better... :)
Pfuzylogic · M
Is evolution something that non believers cling to like a fairy tale?
SW-User
No..one day ,in the future , existing on a higher plane maybe

Ancient people had to guess, that's why the sun was worshipped a lot first. We're the only animal smart enough to ask the question where do we come from
