Why do scriptures give specific yet astronomical figures for things like the dimensions of Noah's ark and the tower of Babel? [Spirituality & Religion]

Noah's ark was supposed to be 300 cubits (over 500 feet) long and the tower of Babel was supposed to be over 5000 cubits (over 8000 feet!) tall.

The bible does not say how tall the tower of Babel was or even give a measurement of how tall they planned it to be. And ships have been built 3 times longer than the ark.

@GJOFJ3
ships have been built 3 times longer than the ark
The longest wooden ship ever built was the Wyoming, which was 140 metres (450 feet) long. The length meant that the ship constantly warped and buckled, and it leaked so badly that pumps had to be used constantly to keep the holds from filling with water. Eventually, this led to it sinking in 1924.

@newjaninev2 see they should have followed god's instructions. Then it would have floated for a year at least.

@GJOFJ3 So, magic would have got the job done?

(magic = violation of the physical laws of the universe... which is what would be required)

@newjaninev2 building it the right way would get the job done

@GJOFJ3 if the materials are nor up to the task, it doesn't matter how well you build it
