I've been told that you must believe or you go to hell. How does one meet god in hell?

@Serenitree I suspect you weren't told everything. Everyone will meet God at the final judgment and only he can judge you.

This is an interesting and thought provoking discussion. I'm not wanting to debate the existence of God with anyone but I truly am interested in understanding what Atheists believe if anyone who professes to an Atheist is willing to share that.

@Eli416 okay. I understand. So, do you mean that even if I do not believe in god, if I have done my best to be a good person, without needing the fear of everlasting damnation, I will get into heaven? Or just that I will be damned no matter how good I've tried to be?

@SW-User So,,basically, we believe in things happening as they happen. There didn't need to be a creator. Shit happens, and so do universes.

I understand that but I was really interested in something a little more philosophical. How did the world and everything in it come into existence? What happens when you die?etc. @SW-User

@Eli416 How did the universe come into being? The Big Bang. What was before that, we just don't know. What happens after you die. Nothing, you simply die. Story over. I believe that human beings are obsessed with thinking there HAVE to be reasons or higher purposes. The universe does not play by these rules, and I am quite sure we are not the only other beings in existence.

@SW-User "Before the Big Bang" is meaningless as time didn't exist until the Big Bang. It wasn't a bang either as there was no medium to propagate the sound. ;)

@suzie1960 but none of us truly knows that for sure. We can be no more sure of the non existence of God, than believers can be of the existence of god. It's all about our credulity (or faith, if you prefer) or the lack of. I am much more of a skeptic than an atheist. Skeptical of just about everything. Except your sincerity, and Meowsolini's, and also Eli416's. I believe each of you to be absolutely sincere in your beliefs. And I respect each of you for being firm in your stance.
