I Love Old Songs

[media=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1DWlj1kvLo]
"Moon River" (1962) - Ben E. King

There are many versions of this song and a lot of them are quite beautiful. The only problem I have with some of them is that they're a bit too saccharine for my taste.

This arrangement by Ben E. King ("Stand By Me"; "Spanish Harlem") doesn't suffer from excessive sweetness and it's as lovely as any I've heard. I was surprised to come across it as I wasn't aware he had recorded the song. Needless to say, I'm very glad he did.

It seems a very 'sweet' song through and through and this one doesn't really differ. Y'know I've been thinking about getting my electric piano (careful choice of words) out I might just do it and see if I can make a 'dirty' version of this (chances are I just don't have the talent but I'll probably give it a go anyway).

@GeniUs It is a sweet song regardless, but the manner in which some performers sing it makes a difference. Maybe it's a reflection of my musical tastes, but I really think it works best as a soul ballad.

If you want to hear an even less-sweet version, check out Frank Ocean's recording. I found it rather haunting...

Good luck with your dirty version. Lol.

20 seconds in and I'm loving the music and rhythm, hating the vocals.
