The cafe across the street has something new—Karaoke !

Occasionally, when there are professional musicians performing, that’s nice to hear. But hearing someone (a man) who sounds "three sheets to the wind" screeching "Material Girl", not so much.

Never actually been to a karaoke bar -- and have no desire to.
@ChipmunkErnie In a sense, it came to me. I’ve been living here for twenty years, and about four years ago, this cafe opened. They have an outdoor deck, and I can look out my window and see the diners. Then they began with live music, which isn’t so bad, sometimes I turn off the tv and listen. But Karaoke ? Yeah, I hadn’t bargained on that. 🙄

@bijouxbroussard Having played in bar bands for year, decades ago, I have a strong prejudice for live music.
@ChipmunkErnie Me, too. One thing I really, really miss about the Cliff House closing was their live jazz performances by local groups. 🥺

@bijouxbroussard And I can't get used to the concept that these days high school kids prefer to have a DJ playing with CDs. "Back in the day" that would have been tacky, we always had live bands at school dances.
@ChipmunkErnie Yep, that’s my memory as well. Very briefly, I played keyboards with a local "metal" band. Our lead’s vocals on "Stairway To Heaven" weren’t bad at all. 😄

@bijouxbroussard We did lots of Zeppelin, Cream, ZZ Top, etc.
