When I was a child, my mother used to listen to this song on repeat on a daily basis. She always explained to me that the song is about a woman who wants to commit suicide at the age of 37 because her dreams were never fulfilled. But I was young and never made the connection until my mother took her own life at the age of 37. As a result, every time I hear this song it makes me think of my mother.
