I just realize that when I hear songs like Moon River, I never (and I say this the upmost respect) associate them with young people. Not realizing it was young people who listened to them when they came out!!

It was at times my theme song, when measured in the days and weeks it was stuck in my head. I was in an exercise group that met for some years at a gym, working out to Love Shack by the B-52's. I felt at the peak of health in those days, just full of energy and vitality, so I guess it does belong on my short list.

Having been a severe alcoholic until my early 40's, I heard this song in 2002, (released in 1999) and without knowing what it was about, several lines resonated with me.

During my drinking years I embarrassed myself often and was ashamed of my lack of self-control.
Only after stopping drinking (2001) was I able to reflect on a wasted life up to that point.
For me the song shows triumph - Sobriety - over adversity - Alcoholism.
