The song "I'll be watching you" - It's been called the stalking song; but I really like it. Good melody & clever lyrics although romantically obsessive. Do you like it; in spite of, or maybe because of, the theme?
By the Police? It's the ultimate stalker song. Even Sting has publicly commented that he can't understand how people can listen to the lyrics and think it's a love song and want it played at their weddings.
No. It's his statement about being unable to understand what other people think (even though he himself said that "ambiguity is intrinsic in the song").
But my question was not about Sting, his thought processes or what others think of them.
P Diddys version : Seems like yesterday not long ago You wrote the rhymes But I made the dough Now I’m making even more money off of you Seems like dying young was the best thing you could do . (An ode to Biggie). Every record deal Every song I steal I’ll be laughing at you
I had a similar realization the other day while I was listening to it. its a fantastic song! stalker song or now...which it is, yet.. its also a song filled with passion and adoration. Maybe unhealthy adoration, but she was his wife....
The meaning of a song , for any listener, is in the mind & interpretation of that listener. What was really in the mind of the composer is impossible to confirm. (it's showbiz folks,)
It's Every Breath You Take. I like it in the same way I like The One I Love by REM or When A Man Loves a Woman by Percy Sledge. They are not what they seem.
