My Wife, My Abuser

I hope that Channel 5 progam will cause those misandrists, who claim only men can be abusers and only women can be victims of domestic abuse, with rethink their position. At least the authorities in some areas are starting to take female on male domestic abuse seriously.

More men would report it if they weren’t ridiculed for doing so, often by other men.

@bijouxbroussard I agree with this. As one that was abused by other men.

Yet I have known and lived with a woman that literally killed her boyfriend and stole his car, driving it clear across the country to my knowledge.

It works both ways.

Yet to say one side is more than the other. That is not taking the fact that abuse happens on both sides.

Heck I'm surprised that gay couple abuse isn't an issue! Gender not mattering. 🤷🏻‍♂️
@DeWayfarer It is an issue, both in gay and lesbian households. Domestic abuse is often not reported because of embarrassment about being judged by homophobic authorities—especially if there are children in the home.

@bijouxbroussard yet is there anyone pushing the issue even there?

Abuse as a whole is a societal embarrassment. Not just a individual embarrassment. Not just a gender embarrassment.

Remove the stigma from the society, you lessen the chances individually.

Sure, it will still happen. Yet there is less of a chance of it happening.

There will always be idiot controllers (abusers). There will always be victims that are embarrassed.

Yet the society does little to stop the control. Because of the embarrassment of societies control or abuses if you will.

And we all play the victim there. And we are all too embarrassed to do anything about it.
@DeWayfarer There are individual activists, but it’s a catch-22 situation. As long as there’s a stigma attached, like there is among male victims who are made to feel bad by law enforcement, or LGBT couples, only a fraction of those affected by domestic abuse will come forward. That in turn allows others to claim its "not as big a deal". 🥺

@bijouxbroussard Male victims are often treated as the abusers by the authorities. :(
