@Unefilletrescurieuse What I meant in my comment refers to those who behave towards you with false assumptions they have regarding you. You can give signals indicating that those assumptions are in fact, false. Even when such signals are given repeatedly, there is no change in their behavior. It's like they WANT to believe their assumptions are true even when given repeated indications otherwise. In short, committed to misunderstanding you like stated in your (you the OP) post. And any polite interaction with them only brings more unwanted misunderstanding from them, no matter how much you might indicate their assumptions and misunderstanding from them is most definitely unwanted. In such a situation, there is no recourse left but to cease being polite to them and shunning them.

@ElyssTTTrucks I understood to start with, but for me, I’d rather just avoid them than be rude. 🙂. And this is just MY opinion on how I would deal with this.

@Unefilletrescurieuse I'm certainly not saying that you should do what I or anyone else would do. Whatever works best for you. In my last comment, I was actually thinking about a particular individual in a former workplace. He had an office in an area that was part of my work assignment and avoiding him wasn't always possible. Unrelated to that particular situation, there were also other such problematic people in the past, and the above was what I was thinking about when I wrote my comments.
