My dad sometimes.....

My dad has a strong dislike of arabs and that's being polite about his feelings. He always goes on about how they own and buy everything up and how they aren't to be trusted and want everything for nothing. My dad is a super proud Israeli however what he won't tell you is he does have persian ancestry too and I believe another group. He always conveniently leaves that out and gets mad when he's on one of his tirades and he's reminded that he's one too. Last time he was making comments my little brother mentioned it and he got mad and started saying well no no no. It's like ok man since you know everything and are always right.

That sounds exactly like how they spoke about jews before hitler came to power 😬 I also have a semi-racist dad, it really gets annoying, but I usually just tell him I don't wanna hear about it and he shuts up about it eventually. Last time he tried talking about it we sat in the car and I was trying to strike up conversation about politics because I know he likes politics, and I was a bit interested in Trump becoming the president. He of course turned it into talking about immigrants and I was like "I'm trying to have a fun conversation that we both enjoy, and you know I don't enjoy you talking about that shit with me."

@MartinTheFirst If you want to have a fun conversation with someone, politics is not the subject you want to bring up.

@Adrift it's the only thing he can talk about, and you can have a fun conversation about politics if you just try

@Adrift not everything is about being right and arguing

@MartinTheFirst So there is nothing in this world that you can talk to him about?
And judging from your last response, maybe your the one looking for the argument.

@Adrift I don't like your attitude, you're trying to tell me how my dad works and what can and can not be talked about, and now you're saying I'm trying to do something I did not.

@MartinTheFirst Grow up.

@Adrift You're 60+ but still trying to start an internet argument, I think you're projecting.

@MartinTheFirst My sympathies to your pop.
