Bored? Need something to do that will make your days brighter?

It has been a couple of years since I was actively participating, but volunteer work is a great way to end your boredom and at the same time, do something good for others.

Yesterday I got a call from the single parent home I used to volunteer at and I'm going to go back and spend a few hours a week doing maintenance in the new home they opened up. It's a large old home they converted and updated, so it needs routine maintenance.

The real (personal) bonus is how good it makes you feel helping out these single mothers and children who were homeless.
That's really great! That’s something I need to do more of for sure. I am always procrastinating or I got a million other things that take my time. But, I really love volunteering or serving others. I used to volunteer at a homeless shelter; I miss that.

That is awesome of you! And a good reminder to us all. 😄👍

@JustNik That's why I posted this. The reminder... I see so many here who are bored and/or having to struggle with this or that, and thought I'd give them a reminder and an idea that I know will change their lives for the better.

Keep spreading the love 💞

@karysma The thing is, I got more love from those I helped than I could ever return. There is so much need out there and all it cost me was gas money to get there and a bit of time.

@Ontheroad It cost you time you can't get back. You could have spent it doing anything but instead you did something to help those in need. That's big 😀

@Stereoguy My first volunteer work was like a hundred years ago when I did some work for a kids shelter near where I was stationed in a third world country. I got tired of the weekend parties with buddies and needed something to do, so I some looking around and found the kids shelter. I didn't speak the language, but it didn't matter one bit... the kids there were so happy to have someone to play with them (and bring them little gifts every now and then), that language didn't matter one bit. That feeling, the feeling of doing something good in life for someone else can't be bought.
