It's best to visit in the summer if you don't like snow and cold. If you wanna see how beautiful it can be in winter, come up around Christmas time 馃檪

@SW-User Cold & snow don't bother me, plus there would not be any of the bugs.

@SW-User I was in Anchorage this past December, the week after Christmas

@SW-User Quick question? Are the insects a huge issue in a spot like Denali in late summer? Is there's a time a frame when they start to move out? Thanks.
SW-User
@Ynotisay yes. The mosquitos are a constant annoyance, especially in Denali National Park. Be sure to bring or purchase Deep Woods mosquito and insect repellent when you land in Anchorage. It's about mid September when they're for the most part gone

@SW-User Appreciate that. It's a place I'm considering later this year for a backpacking trip and Sept. was my window. No issues with cold but flying insects? No so much. :)

@SW-User I have gotten swarmed by mosquitoes on the Kenai Peninsula in June before. Will they be out as early as April in Anchorage?
SW-User
@travelguy01 it depends on the weather really.
