Well two Democrats are actually voting with Republicans, but otherwise yes, the Democrats are the ones making demands. On the other hand, Republicans have made no attempt to negotiate with the Democrats. If you don’t want your healthcare costs to go through the roof you better hope Democrats don’t cave.

The big beautiful bill was rammed down people throats without a single discussion with dems. All talks conducted secretly. Not on the floor. Healthcare came up and the speaker killed all attempts at discussion. I'm a Republican directly affected by the subsidy cuts. $1200 more for premiums per month. No discussion allowed. Now, republicans are saying open the gov't and we'll talk. BS! You weren't willing to talk before. WHY SHOULD I TRUST YOU NOW??? Additionally, the medical discussion was framed as giving illegals medical care. BS! It is and always has been illegal to offer medical services to illegals. And the truth is now out as a premium subsidy. I don't trust Johnson/Trump either!

No, my friend, the Democrats have nothing to do with keeping the federal government shutdown from ending. It's all on the GOP. Speaker Mike Johnson is also refusing to swear in a duly-elected Democratic Representative because she has indicated that she will be voting in favor of releasing the Epstein Island visitor list. Have you heard THAT one?

What are you, new here? The Republicans don't follow the law anymore. They could easily just ignore the votes and open the government.
