When they do what they say they are gonna do.
When they show up to meet me on time .
When they are gonna be late or can't make it , they say so.

Observing how they treat others

@iamnikki That is a sensible check list. That could work. Have you tested it?
WhateverWorks · 36-40
@iamnikki @Renkon I relate most to what they said. I don’t actually believe that you should trust anyone immediately though (not to be confused with paranoia). It’s that trust is built, deepened over time.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Renkon it works
Renkon · 36-40, M
@iamnikki Have you ever flushed out the deceptive ones using this method? What was your follow through?
WhateverWorks · 36-40
@Renkon agreed. It’s definitely worked for me. @iamnikki
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Renkon wouldn't call them deceptive, just not reliable
Renkon · 36-40, M
@iamnikkiHmm.. understand. How do you deal with them? Keep them at bay or break any further interaction?
WhateverWorks · 36-40
@iamnikki yeah, I’d say the same. I think most people who I don’t consider trustworthy don’t intentionally behave ‘deceptively’. It’s that they would habitually overextend themselves, or they were begrudging a people-pleaser who felt compelled to agree to things they didn’t actually want to do, or they were oblivious to how their flakiness could be problematic for other people. Other times it was that they were addicted to drama or had poor emotional regulation/communication skills..

@WhateverWorks 'Trust needs to be built'...hmm.. it requires work, isn't it? I guess that's true.
WhateverWorks · 36-40
@Renkon well, work in the sense that being a reliable person takes consistent effort and regular use of your executive functioning skills. Good communication takes effort. On occasion, it can be work to make ann ethical decision in a complicated situation.

@WhateverWorks That's true.

@iamnikki That last one "observing how they treat others" is so true.
