Next time someone offends you or is cruel to you on the internet.........

Just remember it's been beamed wirelessly from someones laptop or phone
to a router or to a satellite
it's probably gone through undersea cables
then run across the country under ground to your router
then probably been beamed wirelessly to your device.

There is no real reason to feel it. :)

Have an awesome day.

If you have an established emotional connection, it still may cause trauma.
Anyone who would bully people is someone to distance yourself from.
I would never engage or argue with them, as they seem to thrive on that.

It has come to a point in society that if you are merely offended, it's considered abuse.
You can scroll past or ignore differences of opinion.

I do not, however, believe you should target people you know who would be offended, just to be an ass, with anything sensitive to them; that is called manners.
And it is bullying, because you are directly targeting them merely to upset them.

If you didn't know beforehand that something may be offensive to them, then it's not really reasonable for people to go off on you for a post or reply.

When replying, my own personal way is to refrain from sexual jokes, crudeness, political commentary (if the question is not about politics), any comments on people's religion, or family structure.
Again, just good manners.
If you know the person and neither of you would be offended by the above list, then I suppose that is between you and them...post away.

My own personal opinion is to use some thought when replying or messaging.
If a person says something offends them, no matter how dumb someone else feels it is, respect it, and if they cannot respect it, then they can distance themselves.
It's the internet; nobody has to engage with everyone.

@Hireath I didn't mean you personally
It can come directly from some on SW. Some are so quick to make assumptions. Then they lash out. That's when it's time to move on and not allow it to affect you.

@LadyGrace The cruelest offenses and character insults of my life, have come from a couple here.
@Magenta Exactly. Same here only more than a couple. One man told me he wished I will die. Of course I mean really, you have to consider the source. It was just stupid so it didn't bother me. I actually laughed hahaha I laughed so hard on that one. What a troll haha!! You just can't take these things seriously when you consider the source. These are just very sorrowful people and insecure. SOME are jealous. Some are hurting and lash out at others, taking it out on them. But there's something behind that type behavior and I'm sorry you have experienced that.

The most painful wounds, are those we allow/allowed others to inflict on us!

They can only hurt us if we allow it. We do have that option. I prefer to ignore ignorant people. That's not about me. That's their problem. I refuse to allow others to affect my world. Just not going to happen.
...and the films of the atrocities committed in the Nazi concentration camps where "just" images documenting a distant reality, films placed into canisters and flown back to the US and "merely" projected onto screens, "only" photons dancing around.

Better to remember that people will be more cruel to those who are not right there in front of them.

@SomeMichGuy What do you mean?
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Physics and distance doesn't make bullying any less real 😕
Hireath · 36-40, M
@SunshineGirl True. I don't really mean anything as serious as that and I'm not saying people shouldn't react. This is more like trying to make people feel better about stuff they have to let go off for whatever reason.

If you say so.

It trains your brain to detach.
