I’ll give me two cents: example men finding themselves in a better position financially and then divorcing their spouse for someone younger

I personally feel more empowered and independent and happy as I get older but on a wider scale there are definitely plenty of examples like yours.

I think it is true in society that as women get older there is a risk to be less 'seen' or feel less relevent. If they have children, who need them less as they get older themselves, it can be like their 'purpose' is fulfilled and they don't know what to do for themselves.
