What was the woman trying to achieve? Couldn't she understand it?
Irrespective of whether one believes any of it, or places one's own interpretations on it, most of the Bible, at least in its the King James edition, is clear in a literary sense!
No book was deliberately made to be confusing because that would have been self-defeating from the original author's point of view.
However, the whole Bible is an anthology of books written by different and largely-unknown men over something like 400 to 500 years, sometimes recording oral traditions, so it would hardly be surprising if it contains contradictory or otherwise differing accounts of the same things.
Just as literature though, each book is clearly written... even if the contents are dubious or plain incredible.
