Is it that people have grown somewhat intolerant to diversity nowadays, despite we're fighting for the rights of all and of all differences

But somehow it feels people have grown entitled and they are like, nah, when they see the first trouble or difference, like we turned up the volume on talking about embracing diversity and we kind of in actuality became less forgiving?

Or maybe I am still young to be able to see what was happening few decades back? Maybe it is my impression?

I experienced a lot of intolerance and bigotry in my childhood and the early part of my career. There is more awareness in society of the benefits of diversity and the costs of prejudice and social injustice. Unfortunately there is a very loud man in charge of the USA right now who finds it politically expedient to exploit racism, sexism, religious hatred and xenophobia which were lying just below the surface. It is hopefully just a passing phase, but one we could all do without.
@SunshineGirl Do you truly and honestly believe an unqualified person deserves a job more, regardless of sex or race, than someone that has worked hard and proven their qualifications?

@NativePortlander1970 We do not have affirmative action in our country (which is what I think you are referring to), but we all feel the chill when our oen bigots are encouraged by the bad behaviour of your president.

@SunshineGirl Trump gave Jesse Jackson campain offices at no cost when Jackson ran for president in the 80's, Trump was on Oprah numerous times during the 80's and 90's, Trump often mingled with boxing promoter Don King during prize fights. Try again, foreigner
