C.C.TV Good or Bad .

I was laying in bed trying to sleep and as usual my brain wont sleep and useless information pops into my head so thought I would share it . I thought the UK was the most watched country in the world it turns out I was wrong its China closely followed by the USA followed by germany and the UK is a close fourth . However it has got so bad in the UK that the more far flung out of town beaches are becoming ever more popular just because people are worried about being perved on by C.C.TV on town beaches . I live in a seaside town and when I first came here in the 80s you often saw alot of women topless on the beaches . It now never happens as they just dont feel comfortable doing it . Their worried about landing up on the world wide net by some perv in a C.C. TV room . Our nudist beaches are becoming more popular with foreigners as well for the same reason . I know we all want to be safe but I think it is now gone to far . The only place left where you can get away from it is your home or a public toilet , just wonder how long before they end up being public in more ways than one .

Meh, don't really care, CCTV cams have existed for decades and there's no huge influx of such low res, shitty images of women with their breasts bared on beaches being posted on the web. There are lots of high quality images of women who want to expose themselves available for anyone who wants to look at them so this seems kind of a silly thing to worry about.

I think people worry too much.

I don't know what "perving" means but I'd have thought a woman going topless on a seaside resort beach would be far more gawped at by the men on the beach around her, than by the operator of a shopping-centre or car-park security camera!

I live near a seaside resort too and have never seen cameras facing the beach. Cameras on traffic lights and some car-parks yes; ones fitted to shops by their owners, yes... but on the beach? No!

@ArishMell We have them all along the promenade on swivel joints . When people complained in local papers its always the same answer , their there for the publics protection . I think we have become the most watched society in the world . I understand peoples concern , it has become so bad you cant step out your front door without cctv following you around . The only time you can safely get away from them is to go off road . Miles from roads . It has become a big brother world watching you , where privacy has just about become a thing of the past .

I can see a place for CCTV, but there needs to be very strict controls on it in public spaces.

Like many advances in modern society, it has its advantages and disadvantages.
