Not personally but Vodou was a part of my heritage, so I grew up seeing older family members doing things like dressing candles, making gris-gris bags for people. During college in my endless quest for pocket money I did do charts and tarot readings. That’s as far as I ever went, though.
@bijouxbroussard spooky. 😬

@DarkHeaven I think it was because of my family I was never afraid of the dark, like many children are. My grandmother Bijou lived next to a cemetery and it was between her and the market. A couple of times in the evenings, as a child I would walk with her through the graveyard. That’s why I used the Halloween motif with her photo. She would’ve been amused by it.
@bijouxbroussard I have a sister & a good friend who do that stuff. I think it's cool honestly 👌
@bijouxbroussard cool. 🖤

@nightjourney Gris-gris bags, used like an amulet or charm, for a variety of things, health, protection, love…
this is an example of what one might look like.
As for horoscopes and the tarot, that was just entertainment as far as I was concerned.

But the very last time was when I let a superstitious friend talk me into doing a tarot reading.
I used a very basic three spread, and one of the cards was the Death card, which in itself almost never means literal death; usually it means “change”. But my friend couldn’t hear that. She was getting ready to retire, and I told her it probably had something to do with that.

So she rushed out of my home, was driving erratically and a cop pulled her over. She was crying, and the police officer took pity on her and talked with her for awhile. He escorted her home, they exchanged numbers…
A month after she retired, she also had a new husband.

@bijouxbroussard wow. did that girl hook up the cop, too? Great story though
@atlantic59 My friend married the policeman. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.
