Are you a firm believer that people come into your life for a reason?

Or is it all random happenstance?

I don’t know. I guess it seems a bit presumptuous to me.

Plus, two people see the exact same “encounter” differently. That doesn’t mean that the event occurred two different ways, so viewpoints are fabricated into one’s reality or conviction. I think we overestimate the meaning of circumstances.

There are a lot of wonderful people in the world. The simple math of randomness means you’re going to meet some. Who it is doesn’t matter until you stop and take the time listen, share and learn.

@Adogslife Very good reply, but your "two people see the exact same encounter differently" brings to mind another question I once asked here.

If it is true, that everyone is meant to come into your life for a reason, were you sent to teach them a lesson, or were they sent to you to teach a lesson? It is not the same thing. Perhaps that's why people see those encounters differently?

Just food for thought.

@LadyBronte I just assume that water finds its level, so both have needs met. Both are giving. Both are receiving. Both are teaching.

Let’s take love. We both feel the same when loved, but the need it fills could be entirely different. Mine might be more physical. Yours might be about the comfort of safety, yet both trigger the same emotion.

Maybe I preach happiness, but I receive friendship in return. So am I really the teacher or a student of your friendship? Again, water finding its level is the reality. How we perceive it is our own “movie”.

@Adogslife Interesting thoughts. Thank you for providing your perspective.

I think each of us have our own perceptions of life, love, and relationships that have been tempered and shaped by our own personal life experiences. Some good, some bad, none exactly the same as anyone else's. Perhaps, that's why there is such a disparity between beliefs and understanding.

We all have something to teach and we all have something to learn. Perhaps we are, simultaneously, both student and teacher combined, working in tandem so well, we don't recognize the ebb and flow of the roles.

I'm honestly not sure what the answer is, but it is interesting to ponder.

@LadyBronte That’d be my sentiments. 😊
