Caring For The Elderly

I am just watching a program following the ambulance service crews on their rounds .It beggars belief the amount of elderly people bedridden and living on their own rellying on carers coming in a few hours a day otherwise they are on their own. Where are the families of these elderly people, why are they living alone ? If an elderly relative needed me I wouldnt hesitate and hope my relatives would do the same for me if I ever needed it .Why in this day and age , elderly and disabled people still falling through the cracks its not right .There are 100s unemployed make them work for their benefits train them as carers .When building social housing add granny flats so the elderly never have to live alone .

Having worked with the elderly, it's all too easy for families of some of them to forget about them. I am thinking specifically of a horribly cantankerous French woman who used to live in a nursing home where I worked, in my town. Her son was very wealthy, and only lived an hour away, but there was no such thing as a visit once a week. If she was lucky, he would stop by once a year.

@4meAndyou disgusting .Doesnt matter how bad they get in old age they raised you and in their old age you pay the favour back .
