I Need to Rant

I am a salaried employee, but my "shift" is technically 8:45 to 5:15.

I RARELY take lunch unless I need to run to the bank or something. (my boss had remarks about me taking a 30 min lunch daily so I stopped doing that long ago)

I have not left before 5:30 in ages. I usually leave at more like 6. (my boss used to comment that I "act like an hourly employee" when I would leave at 5:15 every day so I stopped doing that)

I am not usually late but yesterday I was 15 mins late due to traffic and this morning I was 30 mins late due to traffic and needing to scrape all the ice off my car. I also have to drop my daughter off at school in the morning, so I am not able to leave any earlier.

My boss had the nerve to walk in here and tell me today, with quite the attitude, that I need to "watch my time" because I was late yesterday and today. All I could muster up to say was "Sorry", but here's what I actually wanted to say:

Dude, I am salary and should not even have a "shift". I do not punch a clock. I do not get paid overtime and I put in at least 45 hours a week, even though I am paid based on 40 hours of work. I have not gotten a raise in two years and I have been with the company for thirteen. I have absorbed the FULL position of SEVEN PEOPLE in my time with this company without relinquishing any of my own responsibilities, and I still get my work done. How are you going to lord over me about my start time for two days, when I stay late EVERY DAY? Go drink bleach. *spit*

Yeah I have to agree. But I also understand that sometimes its not easy to just up and leave without already having another job lined up (especially having a kid).

Absolutely. Also, I am so versed in this company's processes, policies and procedures, I feel like I wouldn't be as valuable in another company. Also, my industry is sort of incestuous. I fear if I look for another job in the industry it will get back to my employer.

Very interesting... which industry is that if I may ask?

@CandyApple that could work for you. If your employer thought you were planning to leave they may treat you better

@tallpowerhouseblonde: I don't know. She may find a way to can me before I find something.

Ahhh there we go.... its a SHE not a HE! I am not sexist in any way, but I usually find this type of bitchy treatment from female bosses towards female employees.

@iSensual: Naw, she is an equal opportunity harasser, trust me.
