I am tired of these damn people.

So I wait tables at a pub and as of late people have been really testing my patience. I worked earlier in the day and it was busy as all get out. I was juggling many things at once and this one man wouldn't understand I will be right with you. He kept trying to shout his order at me. He said and I quote "and I said I wanted the bacon burger with pub chips." I had absolutely had it and I said in a very stern voice " and I said I will be right with you." you best believe I gave him direct eye contact as well. Silence. He went silent and I had zero issues the rest of his visit. Oh man and the night before I had a man mad at me that his drink wasn't out yet. Once again it is near Christmas time people of course it's going to be busy pack your patience. I had told him that he needs to be patient and that nothing in this world is instantaneous. If you absolutely cannot wait any longer I will cancel that order. Again quiet as a church mouse. You have to be stern with people and show them you aren't playing around. I do a damn good job and I got many regulars who love having me take care of them but you can't come into a place acting like you own me.
Who the hell gets up to holler their order before you get to them? You have my empathy . I used to do hair and they drove me nuts too.

@AnnabelleLeigh I don't blame you in the slightest. Just because they are paying for a service doesn't mean they are paying for a servant. I completely understand. I am not above cancelling an order and telling someone to bounce.
@violentred I don't blame you either. I hope you get some more polite people. And a raise. :)

@AnnabelleLeigh I am hoping after the holidays it will cool down and perhaps the holiday stress won't be in full effect.

You remind me of the time I was on holiday in France with a group on a tour. All of us were older people, but with one small group within the larger one who really thought they were something special. At one point the manager came to let one of the 'ladies' know her table was ready. She was standing up talking to someone sitting down. The manage approached from behind: 'Excuse me, madam.' The woman turned put her hand up into his face and turned back to complete her conversation! I couldn't believe the arrogance. The manager was utterly professional and waited. I was embarrassed on behalf of the rest of us Brits so apologised when he was alone. Continuing to be utterly professional, the manager merely put his head to one side and said, 'It's fine.'

Hospitality workers deserve respect.

Hospitality is one of the most difficult professions around. I hate it when people think they are entitled to be abusive just because they are about to spend quite a lot of money. I have seen grown men bully teenage girls who are serving them andcreduce them to tears.

The way you handle those situations sounds perfect. Hopefully it will make your job and those of your colleagues more bearable in the future.
Things were a lot different back in the day when common respect was still, well, common.
@violentred The plandemic did exacerbate a lot of negative attitudes.

@NativePortlander1970 The general public was always ugly but now downright hideous ghastly even. I just want to know when people will wake up and snap out of it.
@violentred They never will, schools brainwashed too many to be that way, that respect is not automatic, that manners are not to be given, and my generation, X, is most at fault, to get our kids to punish our parents what they did to us while growing up.
