I Need to Rant

This isn't really an angry rant, it's an anxious one. It's that time of year again where we're supposed to purchase presents and cards for our loved ones. For some reason, I've been stressing out about it this year. Not for financial reasons, but because they've all been so wonderful to me (and they've been wonderful years before, but perhaps now that I'm older, I'm seeing and appreciating it more than I ever have in the past). Anyways, I'm stressed out, trying to pick the perfect gift.

Deep down, I know that it doesn't even matter. I'm sure "the perfect gift" doesn't even exist, but that doesn't keep me from looking for it. I've been looking for the past 3 weeks, and Christmas is tomorrow and I have nothing to show for it except some Christmas cards that I sent off to relatives who live further away...

Ugh, oh well. Today is the last day to shop. Wish me luck!

I agree with what you know deep down, but would also like to say that the anxiousness is completely normal! If it is felt at anytime a gift might seem be necessary, then it especially is this time of year.

Honestly, from personal experience, as well as shared sentiment, the most perfect a gift can get is just spending the day with loved ones. While cards and gifts are definitely a great way of showing affection, nothing beats the real thing. As ScoobyScoobDoo had also said, they will more than likely just be glad that you wish well and are well.

And I’m not sure if it’s already too late, but good luck! Please be safe out there. 😆

@SunlitXHermit Thanks, and I took the advice here and just calmed down about it, and that made it much easier to choose the gifts. And I know that it's not about that... but they ended up being received well, so that was nice. :)
