It feels pretty real to me. Second life avatars more so. You can sense a spirit there in a way but obviously no flesh. It really makes me think about how people talk about ghosts and the way they are. That disembodied quality but manifesting in various ways. The avatar can change dissappear, reappear somewhere else. Things ghosts are said to do. And there is actually a real live soul behind it.
