A while ago, an investigative reporter for the New York Times decided to investigate the various health claims about breakfast.

It's the most important meal of the day.
If you skip breakfast, you'll gain weight.
And others.

It turns out that all of these claims originated either with the breakfast cereal companies themselves, or from a sham "Breakfast Food Research Institute" that was funded by the cereal companies to produce the proper "research results."

Now, that does not mean that skipping breakfast is necessarily a good thing of course, but perhaps we can be more flexible in our thinking.
