More often than not, one side actually has more credibility and it's not difficult to ascertain who is right. There's no one who is pro flat earth who should be taken seriously regardless of the strength of their conviction

But if we're to treat everyone has equally credible, then everyone is mistaken and there are no established facts

@deadgerbil not everyone on opposing sides are always as extreme as flat earthers tho

@Fishy true, a more common place example would be the claims about how the Earth is only a few thousand years old and that people lived with dinosaurs

One side actually has evidence refuting that, the other bases their understanding on texts that were written by people who knew less about the world than a well read highschooler

@deadgerbil again, that example is taking it to the extreme, but yeah 😶

@Fishy what would be a topic that isn't as extreme in your view?

@deadgerbil I guess this is a case by case basis depending on the type of person you ask?

I mean, there are some things where evidence is provide for both sides of the argument but there isn't really a definitive answer.

And it's still left up to opinion.

Also, there are things that seem real or true at surface level, but the more digging you do, the more flaws you can see with the reasoning and the more things don't seem to add up.
