Hated My Parents

Hate them that they were so judgemental of me and my teen years. Hate them for kicking me out of the house. Hate them 'cos they made me homeless and I was really bloody scared. Hate them that they've excommunicated me ever since.

But...love them because they are my parents.

Forgive? Maybe, in time. Forget? Never.

I've, happily, made my own life since.

🙂

I have some flavor of this same influence at my core as well.

I get a little overly animated in my opinion and judgment of the people that have the audacity to attempt to lay claim to the title "Parent" like it is a right based on the simple act of procreating the species.

How could any person that has had the privilege in this life to not only take part in the creation of life it's self but also be trusted with protecting, guiding, influencing, educating and over all developing a thinking, feeling, loving entity that will live far beyond the influence of it's origins and become an influence it's self in the universe and not be willing to put a little more effort into it when it gets a little difficult?

How could any one that claims to be a parent ever think that kicking your kid out of the house was the best answer?

How could taking the easy way out of dealing with any issue ever have positive response?

They brought that life into this world and it came with some requirements.
Anything worth having is worth working for.

Fuck them they don't deserve your forgiveness.
They did not earn the right.
They failed you. They failed them selves. They failed the universe.

Good for you for raising yourself the right way since they dropped the ball on that.

Love this sentiment of yours. I had such loving parents and hated myself for a long while. Life is indeed funny that way. Don't hate, but love. Simple enough statement but hard to comprehend

I'll never forgive
kodiac · 22-25, M
@Dainbramadge To me if i forgive it means well it wasn't that bad and i understand, but it was that bad and I'll never understand. Also in my case my forgivness would mean nothing to the abusers. I can understand forgiveness, if you steal my money i can forgive,if you steal my soul no way. They have done nothing to deserve my forgivness. Forgivness is wasted on pure evil.
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
@kodiac I agree and feel the same.

I was just exploring the part about forgiving is supposed to be something you do for you NOT them.
I guess I am not enlightened enough yet to understand.

I don't forgive either.
kodiac · 22-25, M
@Dainbramadge Well it does make sense i guess that forgiving can free a person from carrying a grudge .I've heard the saying that holding a grudge is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die ,never understood that one though. I'd rather have justice ,i don't carry it for me i carry it for the child . The kid didn't have a choice but he does have a choice to forgive or not .
Is it possible, your parents did all those things to you in preparation for you making your own life?

You wouldn't be the person you are today had they not treated you the way they did.

I don't even waste time hating my parents anymore. It's not worth it
Djc59 · 56-60, M
Are you sure it's your parents that have the problem???
FelicityDavenport · 26-30, F
@Djc59 I wasn't any more rowdy than others that I know, and they are still with their parents.

But not mine..
Djc59 · 56-60, M
@FelicityDavenport Obviously I know nothing about your situation. But that said... not being "any more rowdy than others" is not an objective standard - so it's hard to go by that. If you admitted to being a wild child.. then maybe that's what they wanted to curb. But I don't know, obviously...
FelicityDavenport · 26-30, F
@Djc59 You don't curb by throwing somebody out of the house, making them homeless.

My parents wer judgemental, selfish, abusive, etc.they wer Everything that a parent shouldn't be.i promised my mother that I wouldn't see thr faces even if they die.

For them to do these things you must have been a naughty teen....

@Monalisasmith86 not really it must have been hard to throw your daughter out, i dont know anyone who would do that to a child who was well behaved.....
FelicityDavenport · 26-30, F
@Monalisasmith86 @Platinum For the record, my grades were good, but I did drink, take drugs and smoke....not excessively...but enough for them not to even listen to me, but just throw me out.
