I will be honest and say that I deal with most people with a type and degree of detachment when they display care towards me
I almost always ready myself for completely disconnecting from them eventually,.as needed.
I simply do not trust selective empathy because it is part of how I lost my sister.
I think many people's kindness is mostly about their social habits and perceptions. Sure, I might enjoy the ease of it if it makes my day smoother, but i don't look to it to validate intrinsic worth.
That includes people from outside my culture.
If I were an Algerian man who went through the exact same experiences I have had as a woman, the exact traumas, no one would care about me. No one would even remember me. It would not matter. I wouldn't be hearing single word of compassion.
Even if I were carrying the exact same burdens, struggles, and experiences I do now as a woman, I know I would be met with silence mostly , except from few , harassement and indifference instead of concern from most people.
i do believe that kindness is a reaction to a social wraper like gender rather than genuine care for humanity. And that's very dehumanizing.
And I have had to deal with that when it comes to so many situations..people who talk about bombing the ME while being friendly and trying to be/remain friends with me. Or talk about pew pew the infidels or how they will go to hell..etc etc
I am not delusional enough to not realize my life isn't truly valued. It is their perceptions they care for.
And I keep that at mind 24/7
I have to do the right thing for its own sake. Not because people are trustworthy and deserving of putting my faith in them.
