NYC affordable housing crisis solutions? Offshore housing platforms! On a monorail.
So apparently the implementation of minimum hourly wage for all new construction projects is impeding growth of affordable housing. In NYC that wage has been increased to $70/hour from $40/hour. The wage for construction workers. This impedes any new housing projects being started because of wage costs.
Rediculous! Minimum wage in NYC? $17/hour. While I support union labor there need to be limits.
My suggestion is hourly wage above minimum wage be taxed at 50% such that of the $40 23 of it would be taxed at 1/2 the first 17$ at normal tax rate. The$70/hour wage would be taxed at base rate up to minimum wage ($17/hr) then 50% up to twice the rate of minimum wage hourly ($34/hr) and then what?
I think increasing wage tax in increments might be the future! So at $51/hr it becomes 75%? The only solution to the debt crisis.
Regarding housing build residential microcosms platforms off-shore connected to the city by monorail. There simply isn’t affordable housing on land it’s all taken over occupied ancient and expensive to maintain.
Get creative people! We need affordable housing so people will have offspring.
